Darien Teen Riding Bike is Hit by Car, Police Seek Info

Darien Police report that on July 11th, 2019 at approximately 8:50 am, a 14 year old male was riding his bicycle on Old Kings Highway South near the intersection of Locust Hill Road. "As the juvenile traveled on Old Kings Highway South towards Locust Hill Road, he crossed from the West side of the street to the East side as he approached the intersection of Locust Hill Road. At the same time, a vehicle traveling West on Locust Hill Road turned right onto Old Kings Highway South. As it negotiated the turn onto Old Kings Highway South, the vehicle struck the rear tire of the juvenile’s bicycle, knocking him to the ground," police say.

According to Darien Police, the vehicle did not stop, continuing North on Old Kings Highway South. The juvenile was taken to Stamford hospital where it was determined he suffered a broken bone and numerous abrasions.

The vehicle was described as a dark colored sedan/hatchback, possibly a BMW. No further information was available.
