Chief Donald B. Anderson and the Darien Police Commission are proud to announce Captain Jeremiah P. Marron Jr. as a graduate of the 283rd session of the FBI National Academy.
The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on September 13, 2022. Captain Marron, Jr. is the 16th officer in Darien Police Department history to complete this prestigious program, joining his father, the late Darien Police Department Captain Jeremiah P. Marron, Sr., who attended the National Academy as a member of Session # 141 (1985). Nationally, fewer than one percent of all law enforcement officers are selected to attend the program, which is by nomination only and subject to a stringent vetting process.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have a proven record as consummate professionals within their agencies to be selected to attend this program. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The 283rd session consisted of two hundred and thirty-five law enforcement officers from forty-nine states and the District of Columbia. The class also included members of law enforcement agencies from twenty-one countries, five military organizations, and five federal and civilian agencies.
Chief Donald B. Anderson: “On behalf of the Darien Police Commission and all the men and women of the Darien Police Department, we congratulate Captain Marron on his achievement and his stellar performance while attending the FBI National Academy. To have two “Captain Jeremiah P. Marrons” be nominated to attend the FBI National Academy from the same police agency is a rarity which certainly points directly to the abilities, long-standing performance and professional respect both men well deserve.”
Captain Marron, Jr. is the Commander of the Darien Police Department Field Services Division and has served the Department with honor and distinction since 1996. He served on the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team for 9 years and is one of the Department’s Public Information Officers. He has served as the Supervisor of the Detective Division, K-9 Unit, SCUBA Team, and Accident Investigation Team. Captain Marron is a 2016 recipient of the United States Attorney’s Award, holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Sacred Heart University, and is a 2021 graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Policing.
The Darien Police Department recently procured an FBI National Academy graduation plaque commemorating the achievements of the sixteen Darien Police Department officers successfully completing the FBI National Academy dating back to Session # 27 in 1944. Captain Marron’s session number and date of graduation have been added to this plaque which hangs with pride in the department.
About the FBI National Academy

Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered. A total of 53,671 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
