“Give where you live.” This is the philosophy of the Keller Williams Realty Group of Eastchester/Scarsdale, and today its employees did just that. In honor of its annual RED (Renew. Energize. Donate.) Day which takes place on the second Thursday of May, this company’s real estate agents dedicated their afternoons to making a difference in the community in which they live and work. Every year, the agency’s Culture Committee comes together to create an event for the KW team to participate in as a way of giving back to others beyond the four walls of their offices. The committee includes Margarita Kocovic (Chair of Committee), Amanda Saraceno, Sinead Couglan, Tanya Makan and Jeff Hanrahan. This year, in conjunction with the Eastchester SEPTA, Keller Williams hosted a Catch-A-Thon at both Anne Hutchinson and Waverly schools to fundraise money for the Eastchester district’s special education program.
Brokers and chairpersons alike traded in their business attire for jeans and sneakers as they geared up for a fun-filled day of sport. For the past two weeks, students have been encouraged by their teachers to collect money for the special education departments at their schools, and in return, were given the opportunity to play catch, hot potato, ball tag, and other exciting games with KW workers during their recess breaks. Though exhausted from running around and being out in the sun, all who volunteered had an amazing time spending the day sharing laughs and staying active with the youth of Eastchester. Kids were overjoyed by their time outside and were reluctant to leave, even cheering a “RED Day” chant as they filed back into the building. Everyone who participated in the Catch-A-Thon left not only with a KW water bottle in hand, but also, a feeling of fulfillment and a memory to last a lifetime.
RED Day has been a tradition unique to the Keller Williams Realty Group since 2009, and every year, employees are eager to participate once more and spend their time helping others and volunteering for great causes. At the RED Day blood drive hosted last year, the company was able to collect over 40 pints of blood, enough to save about 13 lives. Team Leader Carolyn Gensch anticipates having another Catch-A-Thon next year, as it was such a success and truly helps in aiding the future leaders of Westchester and beyond. With this day of service, Keller Williams exemplifies everything a company should be: dedicated, passionate, and most of all, a family.
There is still time for those interested in donating to the Eastchester district's special education program. Keller Williams will be accepting contributions until tomorrow, Friday, May 15th. Simply call 914-723-HOME; any amount is greatly appreciated!
