Parents: When was the last time you and your spouse went out, just the two of you, without the kids? Well, thanks to the “Leave the Kids With Us” program, Saturday night might just be your much awaited date night. Headed by Mrs. Theresa Nicholson, this fundraising event will leave your kids having a blast while you are out and about, worry-free.
“Leave The Kids with Us” first kicked off on Valentine’s Day as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It has been in the works in the Girl Scout community for quite some time now, and Mrs. Nicholson thought that this holiday, along with the good cause the money would go towards, would be a perfect way to jumpstart the program. Proceeds from previous nights have also gone to Eastchester’s Relay for Life, and Saturday’s funds will be donated to the St. Mary’s Abbey Building Project in Ireland to help renovate their crumbling structures.
Held at the Tuckahoe Community Center, this fun-filled night has activities for everyone. From sports, to arts and crafts, to a quiet corner, there’s no need to worry whether or not your child will enjoy himself. Children will be supervised by Girl Scout leaders as well as the parents of some local high school students. This event not only gives parents a night off from taking care of their kids, but also lets the children make new friends with people that they may go to school with or have classes with, but not necessarily talk to, or perhaps just kids out in the community that they have never met before.
So parents, what are you waiting for? This event is open to kids ages 4-12 and will last from 6:00PM-9:00PM at the Tuckahoe Community Center. The cost is $25 per child and $10 for every additional sibling. Visit the Eastchester School District website for an application to ensure a spot for your child, and make a reservation at your favorite restaurant while you’re at it!
