This summer, New Rochelle dads, coaches and former finance mavens, Darin Feldman and Kevin Plein will be trading in their Bloomberg terminals for baseball pinstripes.
Darin and Kevin, who together have coached baseball, softball, basketball and football games in Westchester County for over a decade, have launched A-GAME SPORTS, a business for and about kids who love sports and are in need of proper training to take their game to the next level.
Beginning this summer (July 7-August 15), A-GAME SPORTS launches a six week baseball day camp that will be held at Flowers (City) Park, a state of the art all weather turf field located in New Rochelle, NY.
Parents can register kids ages 7-14 for a minimum of one week, the entire six week session or any number of weeks where they will be put through the paces with the guidance of seasoned baseball coaches and professionals.
Additionally, A-GAME SPORTS plans to offer camper scholarships for Westchester County and New York City students who have excelled both academically and on the field but do not have the resources to finance a summer camp experience.
"The City of New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to host the inaugural A-Game Sports summer six-week baseball training camp (July 7 – August 15) for kids ages 7-14 at our premier athletic facility, Flowers (City) Park," says Parks & Recreation Commissioner Bill Zimmermann. "The park, located on Fifth Avenue, New Rochelle, was completely renovated this past year as part of the Westchester County Legacy Program and features turf playing fields as well as the Sidney E. Frank Skatepark."
Participants will be instructed in various areas of the game, from pitching to hitting to fielding to game play. Additionally, strength training and conditioning will be a part of the program so that children are taught the importance of stretching their muscles to prevent injury on the field.
Campers will also get the chance to attend minor and major league baseball games where they will get the opportunity to tour professional stadiums and meet some of the most talented players in the state.
