Women with a Purpose: Junior League of Bronxville's Women of Distinction

It is once again the time of year for the Junior League of Bronxville to award exceptional women for their continued dedication and leadership in the southern Westchester community. These admirable individuals will be recognized for their efforts tomorrow night at the Fifth Annual Women of Distinction Award Dinner that will be held at the Siwanoy Country Club. The honorees include:


Sustainer of the Year Award: Christine Fitzgibbons
President’s Award: Laura Hale
Sustained Leadership: Larissa Modesitt
First Year Active Award: Michelle Schoulder

Applications for the JLB Positive Power Scholarship and the Cara Kealy Memorial Scholarship are still currently under review. The dinner is open to all active and sustaining members and will begin at 7PM for social hour, with the dinner and program to follow at 8PM.

The Junior League of Bronxville, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Each year, its members dedicate more than 17,000 hours of their time to community service and donate over $600,000 worth of volunteer salaries. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

One of the most recent events that the JLB participated in was the YPIE (Yonkers Partners in Education) Dorm Room Drive, which aimed to support incoming college freshmen women transition into this new chapter of their lives with ease. Enough dorm room beddings, linens, towels, and other essentials were collected for the 30 young women of the YPIE college preparatory program.
