The Friends of the Tuckahoe Library will be hosting its second annual New Westchester Symphony Orchestra concert this Saturday, June 4. It will be held in the Tuckahoe Community Center at 2pm, with doors opening at 1pm. The event will feature a performance by the orchestra as well as a chance to win prizes in the Chinese Auction and 50/50 Raffle.
The New Westchester Symphony Orchestra is a passionate performance group comprised of musicians from all walks of life residing in and around Westchester County. Its 60+ members range in age from 15-86, and play everything from the flute to the bass. “The Friends greatly appreciate the NWSO volunteering their time and talent to benefit the library,” shares Tuckahoe Library Board of Trustees President Ginger Crosby. Their performance last year received very favorable feedback, and this year’s crowd will surely not be disappointed.
With this being the library’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the Friends of the Library have worked hard to ensure that it only gets better and better each year. The Friends, library patrons, and local merchants alike have shown extreme generosity in donating the goods which will be auctioned and raffled off this Saturday. Possible prizes include restaurant gift certificates, wine baskets, hair and nail salon gift certificates, grocery store baskets and gift certificates, and hardware and paint store gift certificates.
All proceeds from this event will be put toward funding children’s, teen’s, and adult programs at the Tuckahoe Library, as well as the purchase of new materials and supplies. For anyone interested in getting more involved with the library, (s)he can simply apply to be a Friend of the Library. With just a simple application and an annual fee, you willl be granted membership and the opportunity to better one of the most treasured institutions of the Village of Tuckahoe.
