With Summer, Saturday Temps, Enjoy the Fall Harvest Drag Race at Ellington Farmer's Market

It’s time for the Fall Harvest Drag Race this Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Ellington Farmers’ Market! It promises to be a beautiful at the market, with temperatures hovering around 80. Come on down to Arbor Park in Ellington, from 9 a.m.-noon.

Registration for the drag race begins at 9 a.m., with the race beginning at 10 a.m. Bring your car made from any fall vegetable or fruit—pumpkins, winter squash, apples or eggplant work well. There must be no gas, battery, electric or wind-up powered motors of any kind attached to the car. Drag race rules dictate that cars must fit a 6.5-inch-wide track.

Fall Harvest Drag Race is an open class, double-elimination tourney, for both young and old. Cars must cross the finish line in one piece to be declared winner of the race and to advance to the next round. Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers.

NoRa Cupcake Co., Hillhome Country Products and Blessed Creek are returning as this week's guest vendors. New items at the market this week include "dirt" soap from Toes to Nose Soaps and yummy, Tasty Layers salad from Say Cheese CT. Luann’s Bakery is bringing its pumpkin chocolate chip bread pudding.

The market's regular vendors will be bringing a huge variety of local and fresh produce, seafood, meat, baked goods, specialty foods and artisan wares.  A complete list of vendors with links to their websites and the market's schedule can be found on their website.
