Broad Brook's Book Club Celebrates Small Biz Saturday

Next weekend is Small Business Saturday, a salute to small (and local) businesses to counter the mass commercialization of Black Friday weekend. Broad Brook’s Book Club is hosting a special event Saturday, Nov. 29, to commemorate the day, as well as to celebrate its one-year birthday. The full day starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.

There will be signings by Connecticut authors, like Wesley Olds of Broad Brook (Bird’s Trip to the Library) Maria Carvalho of South Windsor (Hamster in Space) and Renata Bowers of Somers (Frieda B. Herself). Additionally, there will be store discounts and refreshments, as well as the opportunity to register to win a year’s worth of books.

The schedule of appearances includes:
• 10 a.m.-noon Hamster in Space author Maria Carvalho (S. Windsor)
• 10:00-12:00 A LIFE YOU WANT and the FATE trilogy author Vanessa Kelman (E. Hartford)
• 10 a.m. Greeting Cards & Calendars by Carol (Windsor)
