Fairfield to Hold Penfield Pavilion Public Meeting, Tues. Aug. 27

Town officials and design consultants will make a presentation on alternatives being considered for the repair of Penfield Pavilion on Tuesday, August 27th, at 7pm, at Jacky Durrell Pavilion, 401 Fairfield Beach Road, Fairfield. Public comment will follow.

Following extensive damage to the Pavilion last October from Storm Sandy, the Town hired a design team led by Jose-Miguel Albaine P.E. to evaluate the damages and begin to consider how to repair the facility. Also working with Mr. Albaine's team is geotechnical engineer firm Heller & Johnson to evaluate the soil aspects of the project, coastal engineer firm Roberge Associates to evaluate the potential storm conditions and wave actions to the site and the building, and Peter Cummings Inc. which is involved in the construction methods and estimating.

This team will present three design options at the August 27 Public Meeting:
- Repair the structure with the same current footprint at the same elevation.
- Repair the structure and raise the elevation above the new FEMA flood elevations.
- Repair the structure, raise the elevation above the new FEMA flood elevations, and relocate the facility to the north by approximately 80'.

While Penfield Beach is open to the public, the Pavilion remains closed. Once a course of action for the building is decided upon, the Town will begin the final design process.
