The BIG Easy meets The BIG Apple when ROOSEVELT DIME comes to town. ROOSEVELT DIME and special guest artist Molly Venter kick off the first Voices Café of 2016 with a party on Saturday, January 23. Doors open at 7:00pm with a hot and cold buffet, wine, beer and beverages; music and dancing start at 8:00. All is included in the $40 ticket price.
ROOSEVELT DIME seamlessly combine the feel-good groove of classic Rhythm and Blues with acoustic Americana instrumentation, toss in some old-time jug band and Dixieland second line and you’ve got ROOSEVELT DIME’S infectious and truly original sound.
ROOSEVELT DIME’S jubilant performances are a “perpetual crowd pleaser” (NY Times) in any setting and their “songs are catchy toe-tappers, real feel good stuff. A splendid time is guaranteed” (Sing Out! Magazine).
Eben Pariser fronts the band with searingly soulful vocals, belted and whispered with a passion and panache straight from the juke joints. Andrew Green’s innovative piano-inspired banjo style, equal parts boogie woogie and bluegrass, lock in with the New Orleans clave rhythms of Tony Montalbano’s drums and Craig Akin’s syncopated upright bass. The swampy chords and swinging blues lines of Eben’s semi-hollow electric guitar thicken the sound further still.
And then there’s Molly Venter of Red Molly fame. Molly Venter's voice bends from a sweet moan to a gritty shout and back into a playful run in the space of a few bars and "it all goes down like silk… few singers turn first time listeners into eternal fanatics as effortlessly as Molly Venter" (American Songwriter Magazine).
Molly’s voice has caught the ear of industry giants, and been prominently featured on FOX television, Apple Computers, and in Warner Brothers films.
