Fairfield, Conn. - Hey Teens! Head to Fairfield's Main Library for a fast-paced game of bingo featuring dozens of popular Internet memes, and learn some of the stories behind them. Memes are images, videos or phrases that are spread via Internet and often altered in a creative or humorous way. The group will meet on Tuesday, March 1 from 6:00 to 8:15 pm in the Rotary Room at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. There will be snacks and prizes! Registration is requested.
This program ties into the Library’s 2016 One Book One Town selection, So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed by best-selling author Jon Ronson. This adult, non-fiction book is an investigation of the way people interact online in the age of instant communication and snap judgement. Ronson will visit Fairfield to talk about his book on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:00 pm at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University, but book discussions and other programs will take place all month long. Find out more at www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org/OBOT or pick up the One Book One Town brochure at the Main or Fairfield Woods Branch Library. Join the discussion!
