
FAIRFIELD, CONN. – Each year, the Fairfield Junior Women’s Club organizes a town-wide Spelling Bee consisting of classroom winners from Fairfield's 5th grades. The JWC of Fairfield 34th Annual Town Wide Spelling Bee for 5th Grade students will be held on Monday night, May 23rd at 7 PM in the auditorium at Roger Ludlowe Middle School, Unquowa Road in Fairfield with 35 of the town’s best spellers.
This year’s judges include Helene Murtha, Head of Children's Services, Fairfield Public Library; Andrea Canuel, Assistant Director Volunteer Programs & Service Learning, Sacred Heart University; and John Kovach, Editorial Director HAN Network, formally Hersam Acorn Newspapers.
Last year's Spelling Bee was a very exciting night as 34 students spelled their hearts out! The competition had exciting 8 rounds of spelling bee words for our 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners!!
Open to women in Fairfield and nearby towns, the JWC is a non-profit service organization that gives members the chance to make new friends while giving back to the greater community through social and personal enrichment programs, fundraisers, and local events, such as Touch-a-Truck, A Visit to Santa’s House and the Town-wide Spelling Bee.
