Fairfield's First Church Kicks Off Lenten Organ Recitals, March 8

Fairfield, CT - First Church Congregational kicks off its 6th season of its Lenten Organ Recitals beginning Wednesday, March 8th. The series features local organists who all have a connection to Fairfield County. Each of these half-hour recitals are held on Wednesdays from 12:15pm to 12:45pm. They are free and open to the public to attend. Each organist performs music of his/her choice.  

Here's the schedule:

March 8: Frank Martignetti, Director of Music Ministries, Advent Lutheran Church, Manhattan.  Director of Choral Activities at University of Bridgeport since 2005 and Artistic Director of the Mystic River Chorale.

March 15: Alice Caldwell, Director of Music, Our Savior's Lutheran Church Fairfield.  She has degrees in Organ Performance and Music History from Oberlin.  PhD in musicology from NYU, teaches music Pre-K--4 in Redding.  

March 22: John Abdenour, Director of Music, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fairfield.  (He has the JD.) Degrees in American History and Organ Performance from Oberlin.  Served as Dean of the Fairfield West Chapter of the AGO.

March 29: Galen Tate, Music Director/Organist, St. Thomas More Church, Darien.  He is in his 22nd year at St. Thomas, is on the faculty of Sacred Heart University and is the accompanist for the Connecticut Chamber Choir. He is a licensed pilot.

April 5: Paul Jacobson, Acting Director of Music and Organist, First Church Congregational, Fairfield.  He has a BA in Music (Organ Performanance) from Blackburn College, Illinois, was a Fellow at the Royal Danish Conservatory Copenhagen, graduate degrees in Religion and Organ Performance from Yale University Institute of Sacred Music, and a PhD from Graduate Theological Uniion, Berkeley, CA.
