Fairfield, CT – Back to School means tax free savings with Connecticut’s Tax Free Week beginning Sunday, August 15, through Saturday, August 21, 2021.
During this one-week sales tax holiday, retail purchases of most clothing and footwear items priced under $100 are exempt from the sales and use tax. According to the CT Department of Revenue Services, the exemption applies to each eligible item under $100, regardless of how many of those items are sold to a customer on the same invoice.
“This past year and a half has been a really challenging time for everyone, but especially our many small business owners," remarked Fairfield Director of Economic Development Mark Barnhart. “For those looking to do some back-to-school shopping and take advantage of tax free savings, it’s important to buy local wherever possible and support our small business community,” he added.
