Four questions with Kris Stevens, founder of Bonkers Cupcakes.
Why did you start your business?
Bonkers Cupcakes was started by father and son team Kris and Michael Stevens. Kris retired after spending a career in finance and tech. Kris was “bad at retirement” though, having too much time on his hands and too much energy. Mike studied physics and is a talented software developer.
Kris and Mike previously worked together and during the pandemic thought about ways they might do so again. Both loved the idea of making something tangible and both love baking. The idea for Bonkers hatched from that thought process.
What is your best-selling product/service?
Cupcakes! But more specifically we sell a lot of salted caramel cupcakes. Kris likes them on vanilla cupcakes, and Mike prefers them on banana cupcakes.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?
