Fairfield, CT -- On October 28, Team Woofgang & Co (TWC) will celebrate its 5th year anniversary. During the past five years TWC, an IRS designated non-profit organization, has stayed focused on empowering those with physical, intellectual & developmental disabilities through two curricula tailored to the unique abilities of each individual. The organization has seen tremendous growth - expanding its board, increasing the number of individuals served, operating a retail store in Fairfield and a production site in Bridgeport, and hiring a program manager and an executive director.
Team Woofgang & Co. began in 2017 with the mission to provide vocational training and job skills development to adults with disabilities. TWC’s three co-founders, Kelly Maffei, Kris Burbank, and Amy Stern, each one a mother of a child with diverse developmental challenges, recognized the difficulties all children with disabilities experienced when leaving school programs and entering adulthood. This challenge is addressed through the producing and selling of dog treats and other hand-made novelty items which supports the dual curriculum of production and retail learning opportunities. TWC’s updated mission statement is to provide individualized vocational training, lifelong learning, and social opportunities to adults with disabilities, free of charge, and support their families and communities to help them live the fullest of lives.
Team Woofgang invites the public to celebrate on Friday, October 28th by visiting their storefront located at 1300 Post Road, Fairfield, CT, during normal business hours 11:00am - 5:00pm or during the extended, celebration hours 5:00pm - 7:00pm for food, festivities, and a few surprises.
