Westport, CT — The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome local artist Maj Kalfus as guest exhibitor for the month of September at the Book Shop’s Drew Friedman Art Place. Maj will be exhibiting several of her digital compositions, created with the use of technology.
Maj explains, “Using my iPad and the Procreate program, I have been exploring the limitless creative opportunities available with digital mediums. I tend to stay with subjects I am comfortable with, taking advantage of the color, brush and line options. David Hockney is my digital guiding light.”
Maj’s work spans a variety of mediums, including oils, acrylics, pastels, collage, graphite, ink, and now computer technology. Her paintings and drawings are influenced by an extensive career in the fashion industry. After attending the High School of Art and Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, as well as classes at the School of Visual Arts, her career, which began in the field of fashion illustration, evolved into fashion merchandising, marketing and design.
Maj currently teaches art in Westport and Weston, as well as the Silvermine Arts Center. She is a member of The Artists Collective of Westport.
Maj Kalfus’ artwork will be on exhibit at the Book Shop through September 30, 2023. All work on display is available for purchase.
