Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Lash-a-licious by SuLu!
Three questions with Sue Townsend, founder of Lash-a-licious by SuLu.
Why did you start your business?
I am a single parent and a Paramedic. I love skincare and beauty. Look good, feel good is what my mother always said. So looking for additional income to support my daughter and myself I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went to Esthetician school and took courses to train myself in the things I love. After my training, I opened my small mobile business to give working people like myself a chance to have beauty brought to the convenience of their home, also sometimes outside of the regular 9-5 environment. Relaxing is important to be productive.
Teeth Whitening is a big seller. People love to smile and that with a beaming white smile. My Teeth Whitening service contributes to a beautiful smile at an affordable price.
Have you reimagined your small business?
Yes. Offering a Home Service and not just a shop service was a big improvement. Offering Lash Parties for a nice ladies' night out only turned out to be great fun for my business, but is something the ladies appreciate - providing relaxation and beauty at the same time.
