Fairfield Home Invasion Suspect Arrested

Fairfield, CT - The Fairfield Police Department shared that Osborne Hewitt (DOB 10/19/1965) has been arrested and charged in violation of C.G.S. 53a- 100aa Home Invasion, 53a-101 Burglary in the 1st Degree, 53a-62(a) (1) Threatening in the 2nd Degree, and 53a-182 Disorderly Conduct. Hewitt was held on $500,000 bond.

On November 30, a juvenile contacted Fairfield County Regional Dispatch and reported that Hewitt had broken into their house and that he was holding a knife. She further informed dispatch that her mother had locked herself in a closet (Victim #1).

When Officers arrived on the scene, they were met by the mother and juvenile, who confirmed that Hewitt had broken into their home and threatened the mother with a knife. Just prior to the Officers arrival, Hewitt had run away when he realized that Fairfield Police had been notified.

The mother told officers that Hewitt, who she identified as her ex-boyfriend, had broken into her home and, while questioning her about her new relationship, he had become agitated and picked up a knife from the kitchen. At one point he placed one hand over her mouth and the knife near her throat after threatening to stab her dog.

Shortly after Officers arrived, they were able to locate Hewitt nearby at the corner of Knapps Highway and Vesper Street. He was placed into custody without further incident.

The relationship between the woman and Hewitt falls under a domestic relationship as they had been in a dating relationship.
