Yale Whiffenpoofs' Holiday Concert at Trinity Southport Dec. 9

SOUTHPORT, CT — Trinity Episcopal Church is proud to present the world-renowned Whiffenpoofs of Yale at a special Holiday concert on Saturday, December 9, from 4:00 - 5:30pm.

Established in 1908, the Whiffenpoofs are the oldest collegiate a capella singing group in the United States.  Singing a mixture of old Yale tunes, jazz standards, and other hits from across the decades, the Whiffenpoofs perform more than 200 concerts across six continents each year. The group has become one of Yale’s most celebrated traditions.

Comprising of 14 rising seniors, the students take a year off from their studies to tour the United States and internationally. Former members include Cole Porter and Jonathan Coulton. The Whiffenpoofs have performed for generations at a number of venues, including Lincoln Center, the White House, the Salt Lake Tabernacle, Oakland Coliseum, Carnegie Hall and the Rose Bowl.

“Founded over 100 years ago - long before the days of “Pitch Perfect” and “Glee” - the Whiffenpoofs set the standard for a capella singing that brings joy and lifts spirits wherever they go,” said Dr. Robert Kwan, Director of Music, Trinity Episcopal Church. “Trinity is delighted to welcome them for this special holiday performance.”

This concert is the latest in Trinity’s “Music Under the Spire” series.
