FAIRFIELD, Conn. — In her lecture titled “Contextual, Adaptive, and Catholic: A Reflection on Jesuit Education", Catherine Punsalan-Manlimos, PhD, will reflect on how Jesuit colleges and universities offer a distinctive educational experience that is culturally relevant and genuinely Catholic.
Dr. Punsalan-Manlimos has played an active role in Jesuit education for more than 30 years. Before becoming vice president for mission integration at Seattle University, she began her teaching career in the Theology Department at Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines. Following her time at Ateneo de Manila University, Dr. Punsalan-Manlimos taught as an associate professor in the Theology and Religious Studies Department at Seattle University. Along the course of 15 years at Seattle University, Dr. Punsalan-Manlimos was the inaugural director of the Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture and held the Malcom and Mari Stamper Endowed Chair in Catholic Intellectual and Cultural Traditions. She also served as the director for the Catholic Studies Program in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Prior to her career in higher education, Dr. Punsalan-Manlimos earned her BS in physics from Ateneo de Manila University, an MA in theological studies at the Loyola School of Theology in Quezon City, and a PhD in systematic theology from the University of Notre Dame.
