GHS Music on the Great Lawn Concert Series Kicks Off May 22

GREENWICH, CT – The Great Lawn at Greenwich Historical Society comes alive with the sounds of music beginning May 22nd and will continue every other Thursday evening through September 4th. Entering its sixth season the Music on the Great Lawn concert series is a beloved tradition with wide appeal for area residents who enjoy fine music and socializing with family and friends on the Historical Society’s sumptuous lawn and historic gardens.

“We are delighted to welcome several new bands and performers with strong followings to our line-up this season,” said Daniel Suozzo, Historical Society Director of Special Events. “Joe Calzone’s Mad Dog Redux will bring memories of Joe Cocker’s mesmerizing performance at Woodstock; the Richie G Jazz instrumental group’s smooth jazz and R&B will include standards from George Benson, Stevie Wonder and Spyro Gyro, and powerhouse vocalist Michelle Pauker, who has performed for sold-out audiences in New York City and the region, will delight with her wide range of compositions from Jerome Kern to Joni Mitchell in her solo performance.”

Concerts are from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Season schedule:

·      July 10: Chasing Romeo

·      July 24: Demolition Brass Band

·      August 6: Michelle Paulker

·      August 21: Gunsmoke

·      September 4: Sun Kings: A Beatle’s Tribute

Concerts are free for Historical Society members and children; $10 for non-members. All members receive special year-round benefits, including free admission to museum galleries, exhibition openings, museum store discounts, and more. Renew or join at the Dual/Family level ($100) to receive a canvas picnic tote, while supplies last. The grounds open at 5:30 for those interested in a pre-concert picnic.
