Westport, CT – Westport Farmers’ Market (“WFM”) has had a remarkable summer of growth and success, continuing its reputation as the area’s hub for fresh produce, community engagement, and local culture. As we transition into the fall, we are thrilled to share the exciting developments and upcoming attractions that will make the market even more of a go-to destination for autumn.
“Westport Farmers’ Market has seen a surge in attendance this summer, with our community coming together to support local vendors, enjoy fresh, seasonal produce, and participate in our vibrant atmosphere,” said Lori Cochran-Dougall, executive director. “Our expansion has enabled us to welcome new vendors and introduce a diverse array of products—further enhancing the market experience for all who visit.”
As we turn our attention to fall, Westport Farmers’ Market will be continuing a series of initiatives and shopping favorites, including:
Get Growing: “Get Growing,” a series of engaging activities for children, continues this fall with food and nature-themed educational programs that provide little ones with hands-on activities related to gardening, healthy eating, and the joys of local produce.
“Families have been an integral part of our market from the beginning,” said Cochran-Dougall. “We ‘plant the seed’ every week with this tremendous and popular program.”
Recipe Program: The WFM Recipe Program is growing in popularity each week by highlighting five-star recipes from market vendors, local chefs, and enthusiastic shoppers. Visitors can explore creative and delicious ways to use fresh ingredients from the market—featuring everything from gourmet dishes to simple, family-friendly meals—online at www.westportfarmersmarket.com/recipes
Demonstrations: weekly Saugatuck Provisions will join WFM on October 31st for several butchering demonstrations.
Live Music: Adding to the market’s vibe, WFM has partnered with Park City Music Hall of Bridgeport, a local social club, to curate weekly live music performances. Park City’s commitment to fostering community through live music, art, dancing, food, drinks, education, and philanthropy, will continue to bring dynamic and eclectic music to the market every week.
Westport Farmers’ Market remains dedicated to supporting local agriculture, fostering community connections, and providing a space where people can come together to enjoy the best a new season has to offer. As we embrace the fall with renewed energy and enthusiasm, we invite everyone to join us.
