Local Champion: Modern Salon
Meet Melissa Schiavone, owner and Master Stylist at Modern Salon in Fairfield.
Why did you open Modern Salon?
With over 27 years of experience in hairstyling, I wanted to create a salon that not only delivers high-quality services but also provides a welcoming and luxurious experience for our clients. Modern Salon was born out of my passion for beauty and my vision of a space where clients can feel confident, pampered, and leave looking their best.
What are your best-selling products and services?
Our most popular services include customized hair coloring, such as balayage and dimensional highlights, as well as precision haircuts for all hair types. We also specialize in wedding and prom styling, offering everything from elegant updos to glamorous, long-lasting curls. When it comes to products, our best-seller is Balmain Paris Luxury Hair Couture, a high-performance line that delivers exceptional nourishment, shine, and styling perfection—perfect for maintaining healthy, beautiful hair.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Absolutely! Supporting local businesses is important to me. We work with Fairfield Cheese Company for special salon events and love sourcing fresh flowers from Stems + Co to keep our space vibrant and inviting. Additionally, we collaborate with local coffee shops to provide our clients with delicious refreshments. We also support and recommend many fantastic local restaurants in Fairfield, encouraging our clients to explore the amazing dining options nearby.
We also believe in strong community engagement and proudly advertise with Fairfield Lifestyle Magazine, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, and Hearst Media to stay connected with local residents and businesses.
