Painter Gini Fischer to Host FCAA Meet, Wed. May 8

Fairfield County Arts Association will meet on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 pm at Roger Ludlowe Middle School. The featured presenter will be painter Gini Fischer, creating a portrait from a posed figure.

Fischer is a lifelong artist who recalls creating her first portraits in kindergarten. When she received praise, she decided she was going to be an artist. She has studied with many area artists.

A great believer in the importance of daily painting, she once set a goal of a portrait a day as a New Year's resolution. Working almost always from life, she created 422 portraits that year. People are her favorite subject, but animals are a close second. They offer a fresh variety of color and textural challenges that enhance all my other portraiture.

Gini has exhibited at shows in Bethel, Wilton, Redding, Stamford, Fairfield, and other area facilities. The Bartlett Arboretum "Frolic" 2011 was her first one-woman show.

There will be time for questions, as well as refreshments and feedback on the art of members.

The Fairfield County Arts Association is a networking club for area artists in all media, on both professional and non-professional levels. Anyone may attend a meeting before joining. Membership includes a monthly newsletter, group exhibition opportunities, each member's artwork on the website, www.fairfieldcountyarts.com, two social events a year, and monthly meetings in the Fairfield area. The meetings feature an artist speaker or demonstrator and group feedback on the artwork of members attending. To attend, call 203/259-8026.
