Slow Food Metro North to Honor Tarry Lodge Sat. June 29, 2-4pm

On Saturday, June 29 at 2 pm, Westport's Tarry Lodge will be honored by Slow Food Metro North with the "Snail of Approval" award at 30 Charles Street, Westport. The community is invited to join in the celebration. Slow Food Metro North, a regional chapter of Slow Food USA, recognizes restaurants, food purveyors and other local businesses that support local agriculture and sustainable practices in the counties of Westchester and Putnam in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut. The Snail of Approval is awarded to establishments who aspire to provide good, clean and fair food to their community.

Slow Food Metro North has chosen to honor Tarry Lodge, Westport, owned by the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group, an industry leader in sustainability, for their support of the local foodshed. Not only are they highlighting local products on their seasonal menus they deserve to be celebrated for their sustainability initiatives as well as for taking time to get down and dirty with their local farm community. Renowned Chef Andy Nusser takes time out of his busy schedule to take his staff out to local farms. The restaurant is committed to what they refer to as the triple bottom line, "people, planet, and profit".

"Tarry Lodge Pizzeria in Westport is proud to be part of the rising group of snail people who are growing and slowing food together to make a better meal to eat," said the Chef.
