The Beth Davis Rose of Hope Tennis Tournament at Brooklawn Country Club Set for Sept. 12

FAIRFIELD, CT - The Beth Davis Rose of Hope Tennis Tournament takes place at Brooklawn Country Club at 500 Algonquin Road in Fairfield on September 12, beginning at 8:30 am. The event, a fundraiser for the Norma Pfriem Breast Center’s community outreach programs, draws participants from throughout southern Fairfield County. The Breast Center has been helping women in the community fight breast cancer for over a decade.

The lead corporate sponsor and a tournament supporter for more than seven years, People’s United Bank has given over $100,000 to the Norma Pfriem Breast Center’s educational and outreach programs since 2012.

“We are so grateful to People’s United for their support over the years.  Thanks to them, we have expanded our outreach programs and increased the number of women who get their annual mammograms, and have most certainly saved lives,” says Dr. Donna Twist, executive director of the Breast Care Center.

Andy Gleeman returns to emcee the tournament.  Gleeman’s wife, the late Beth Davis, for whom the tournament is named, served as chairman of the Breast Center Advisory Board while battling breast cancer.

“Beth is with us at this wonderful event in spirit and in name,” Gleeman says. “She and I are so pleased and gratified that it not only lives on… it is thriving in its 13th year. Beth loved tennis. She loved the Breast Care Center and its people and its mission. And she created and loved this event. If ever there were a Win-Win-Win situation, this is it.”

The event is co-chaired by Nancy Bento, NPBC President’s Council; and Carven Albanese. Players come from Westport, Fairfield, Easton, Trumbull, Wilton, Stratford and Weston.
