Thanks from Fairfield Probate Judge Caruso for Salvation Army Donations

Fairfield, CT - The following is a Letter to the Editor from Fairfield Probate Judge Dan Caruso, acknowledging all who contributed and supported recent Salvation Army fundraising efforts...

Dear Editor:

Please allow me to express my sincere appreciation to all who, on the past several Saturdays at the Stop & Shop stores in Westport and downtown Fairfield, took a moment, reached into their pockets, and made this year’s Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign a success.

Those donations will be distributed by the social service directors in Fairfield, Westport, Easton and Weston, and will help truly needy families in our four towns. The donated funds are used for emergency fuel, and to meet urgent food and housing needs of our neighbors.

A heartfelt thank you is due the dozens of individuals who volunteered their time and energy to ring the bell in the sun, in the rain, in the cold and in the snow.  Special recognition goes to the Campus Ministry and the fine young men of Fairfield College Preparatory School, and to the members of Student Athletes Serving Others (SASO), for their outstanding commitment and service.

Moreover, we thank the public servants who helped us, including First Selectmen Jim Marpe of Westport and Mike Tetreau of Fairfield, State Representatives Cristin McCarthy Vahey, Laura Devlin and Brenda Kupchick; and the Social Services directors of Fairfield, Easton and Westport: Theresa Giegengack, Eileen Zimmerman and Elaine Daigault.

Those who joined us and those who gave know the generosity of our community and the satisfaction of helping those whose needs are great.

Thank you for sharing the season’s joy and a happy and healthy new year to all.

Daniel F. Caruso
