Norwalk, CT – Food Rescue US, the national food rescue organization based in Norwalk, has received a $2,500 grant from the New Canaan Community Foundation to support the expansion of the organization’s food rescue platform and in-house technology. NCCF presented Food Rescue US with the time grant at their Grants Award Coffee on May 23rd. Food Rescue US CEO Carol Shattuck said, “We are very grateful to New Canaan Community Foundation for their continuing support of our work to alleviate hunger and food waste in Fairfield County.” Powered by their proprietary technology, since 2011, Food Rescue US Fairfield County has rescued over 16 million meals, saving 24.4 million pounds of food from going into landfill, at a value of over $37 million.

Established as a 501(c)3 non-profit, this food-rescue platform is focused on transferring healthy, usable foods to where it can help feed those in need.
