Earth Animal Seeks Support for its Mitten Project

Westport, CT - Earth Animal’s Mitten Project™, founded by Susan Goldstein, has offered support to the Connecticut Food Bank for thirteen years.

Today more than ever, families are truly struggling to make ends meet. Due to the unexpected consequence of COVID-19 and the striking downward spiral of the economy almost overnight, the number of people in need increased by 44% due to lost jobs and income. This means 400,000 people are now food insecure due to the crisis. Many people have turned to The CT Food Bank for the first time.

For 41 years, Earth Animal has been dedicated to helping animals and their pet parents. Their feelings toward families in need due to the unfortunate pandemic has collectively increased and they feel the need to help more than ever. Your donations will provide healthy and substantial food for families that are hungry and can’t put food on their tables.

The CT Food Bank has provided nutritional meals for families since 1982. In the Fiscal Year 2020, 28.6 million pounds of food was delivered and 23.8 million meals provided through 500 access points across six counties. CT Food Bank makes sure the food is distributed to families in need each week via a mobile bus, on location or visiting each school with boxes.

Earth Animal has asked local business owners and friends to join in and offer support with donations during this time period. Earth Animal will match every penny donated.

Last year, EA raised $20,000. They want to surpass that amount this year and get to $30,000. You can donate to EA's GoFundMe Fundraiser for the Mitten Project by clicking here. For mail-in donations, please make out your check to "The CT Food Bank" and mail to: Earth Animal, 925 Post Road E., Westport, CT 06880 Attn: Merritt Goldstein

Thanks to compassionate and exceptionally generous friends like you, EA will be able to make a huge local impact. Please know in your hearts that you have helped struggling families. They now have somewhere to turn.
