Make-A-Wish® Connecticut Begins Countdown to World Wish Day on April 29

TRUMBULL, CT – Every year, Make-A-Wish Connecticut, the organization that grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, joins Make-A-Wish chapters and international affiliates in celebrating World Wish Day on April 29, the anniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish in 1980. As the countdown to World Wish Day begins, Make-A-Wish is launching a bold, fundraising-focused campaign titled, “Don’t Wait for Hope. Create it.”

The inspiration for “Don’t Wait for Hope. Create it.” stems from the fact that wish families have been some of the hardest hit by the pandemic. Feelings of fear and isolation have become commonplace for everyone, but they are often felt deepest by the most vulnerable members of the population, including children with critical illnesses. Now more than ever, wishes can bring hope, joy and a sense of normalcy back into the lives of wish kids and their families. “Don’t Wait for Hope. Create it.” empowers individuals and corporations to donate to make life-changing wishes possible for children who are waiting for their wishes to come true.

From now until World Wish Day, Make-A-Wish Connecticut will activate the “Don’t Wait for Hope. Create it.” campaign in the following ways:

  • BIG WISH REVEAL – we will be granting at least one special wish at our Wishing Place in Trumbull on April 29th - World Wish Day – please keep an eye out for the media advisory.
  • SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN - In addition, we will be posting how our wish families themselves are creating hope across all our social media platforms.
  • FUNDRAISE FOR SETH’S WISH – WPLR/Chaz and AJ will be fundraising for Seth’s wish the week of April 12.

“In these times, hope is essential, and Make-A-Wish Connecticut knows the importance of being able to deliver that hope when it’s needed most,” said Pam Keough, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Connecticut. “There are many things this year that have felt out of our control, but giving now to grant wishes is something we can all choose to do that can have a life-changing impact on wish kids and their families.”Between now and World Wish Day, several Make-A-Wish national sponsors will showcase their support for the wish-granting organization, including Macy’s, Build-A-Bear Foundation, City Electric Supply, FabFitFun, Keebler, Marquis®, Topgolf, The Learning Experience and WWE. Locally, additional support will be provided thanks to chapter sponsors of Make-A-Wish Connecticut, including Connoisseur Media.
