National Walk to End Epilepsy: Stamford, May 16

Stamford, CT - Fairfield County residents will be out in force on Sunday, May 16, 2021, as they show their support for epilepsy awareness and the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut (EFCT) by participating in the National Walk to End Epilepsy, which will be held at Cove Island Park.

“We are very excited to once again hold our Walk to End Epilepsy events again in-person across the state. We are looking forward to welcoming our tremendous epilepsy community to our walks that help the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut provide vital programs, services, and advocacy for the 36,000 individuals living with epilepsy in Connecticut. Despite the pandemic, seizures haven’t stopped…and neither has the fight to End Epilepsy," said Linda Wallace, Executive Director.

Stamford Mayor David Martin and Stamford State Representative Caroline Simmons will both be attending to support the epilepsy community in Stamford. “Thank you to the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut and all of the advocates for your support for the Walk to End Epilepsy and to improve the lives of people with epilepsy. In the state legislature, we have passed bills to expand medical marijuana use for individuals with epilepsy, to encourage more accurate reporting and data related to epilepsy, and to expand the Katie Beckett Waiver Program, and will continue do everything we can to champion policies to improve the lives of individuals with epilepsy,” said State Representative Caroline Simmons.

Based on new guidelines from the National Walk to End Epilepsy, there is NO FEE to register for any of the EFC's walk locations in Connecticut. However, every person regardless of age that is planning to walk must register! Once participants register, EFC will send a link to set up a fundraising page where they will have the opportunity to raise funds and share their connection to epilepsy.

EFC wants all members of the community to walk with then, but they cannot host these events and provide the resources for the epilepsy community without your help. They encourage every walker to make a personal donation and commit to raising funds to help them support the epilepsy community.

Registered walkers who make a $50 donation will receive an official Walk to End Epilepsy t-shirt!

All proceeds benefit The Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut’s programs and services.

Sponsors include: Sunovion and Medtronic (Nationwide Sponsors); Greenwich Biosciences; SK Life Science; and Eisai, LivaNova and UCB (Signature Sponsors).
