Fairfield, CT - Thursday, April 21, the Tree of Hope on Fairfield's Sherman Green was lit up in blue to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Make-A-Wish Connecticut's founding and, overall, World Wish Day. Make-A-Wish CT executives and local families gathered for the occasion. Pictured from left to right are Tara Navara (Chief Development Officer, Make-A-Wish Connecticut), Dana and Mike McCreesh (Wish parents and Fairfield residents), Pam Keough (President & CEO, Make-A-Wish Connecticut) and Michelle Wilson (Make-A-Wish Connecticut Board Member and Fairfield resident).
Every year, Make-A-Wish chapters and affiliates come together to celebrate World Wish Day, which is formally marked on April 29, the anniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish. Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Chris Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia who wished to be a police officer in 1980. Chris’ family and friends came together to help grant his wish ‘to be a police officer’. Little did Chris know that his wish would create a movement that would transform millions of lives.
When you help grant a wish, you restore hope for a child and improve their mental well-being. A wish is a turning point in a child’s medical journey that opens the door to exciting possibilities. You empower them to reclaim their childhood, and experience transformative joy.
