WAC Martini Madness Gala Tix Now On Sale

Westport, CT -- Tickets are now on sale for the Westport Arts Center’s Martini Madness fundraiser gala.  The annual gala will take place on Saturday, May 20 at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, CT.

Martini Madness will pay tribute to the role Westport played during the creative heyday of the 1950s and 1960s, celebrating Westport's distinctive identity as a creative center steeped in a long history of artists, illustrators and creative executives.  Guests will be entertained by the iconic advertising created during this period, which continues to be recognized in both pop culture and contemporary art today.

The event will honor Derek Goodman for his significant contribution to the arts.  Goodman was the originator of the Fall MORE Than Words exhibition at the Westport Arts Center, an exhibition that extended beyond the walls of the Arts Center and included such events as the 2017 SlamJam at the Westport Country Playhouse.

In addition, the Arts Center will honor the memory of Westport’s own Harold Levine, quintessential adman, patron of the arts and founder of the legendary creative advertising agency, Levine, Huntley, Schmidt and Beaver.

Goodman stated, “The Westport Arts Center and the entire Westport community contributed to the success of the MORE Than Words exhibition, which utilized art to raise awareness of, and advance a constructive dialogue around, the important issue of bullying.”

“For me, art has always been about the creation of ideas – a type of expression that levels the playing field for free speech no matter who you are or where you are from.  Raising my children in a community that values that is a privilege.”

Goodman continued: “The MORE Than Words exhibition would not have been possible without the hundreds of people who contributed to it and the thousands of people who viewed it, and I am proud to have worked alongside all those who dedicated their time and energy to its success.”

“I look forward to Martini Madness and am humbled to join the list of past honorees – leaders of our community who have made significant contributions to the Westport Arts Center, and have helped make Westport a great place to live.”

Derek Goodman, 46, is a Board Member of the Westport Arts Center, and an active supporter and collector of contemporary art.  Goodman was exposed to contemporary art at an early age by his aunt, a gallerist in Boston and SoHo in the 1970s – 1990s.

Goodman resides in Westport with his wife and two daughters. His children are avid young musicians benefitting from the Westport community and schools’ outstanding music and arts curriculum.  Goodman is the Managing Partner and Chief Strategic Officer of Autonomy Capital, an alternative investment firm that specializes in multi-asset class investing on a global basis.

Corporate sponsors of Martini Madness to date include Wells Fargo Advisors, Cohen and Wolf, P.C., AB Bernstein, Bruderman Asset Management, Fairfield County Bank, Land Rover/Jaguar of Fairfield, Sontag Advisory, Verde Energy USA, Inc., and Critical Mix.

Co-Chaired by Westport Arts Center Board Members Orly Angerthal and Erika Miller, the annual fundraiser gala plays a significant role in supporting Westport Arts Center’s arts and outreach programs in Westport and the greater Fairfield County community.
