MFY Free Duo Piano Concert March 10 at Pequot Library

Southport, CT - The FREE Music for Youth Young Persons’ Concert Finale will feature the Primakov/Lavrova piano duo, set for Saturday, March 10th at 2 pm, Pequot Library.

Music for Youth has presented concerts in the auditorium of Pequot Library for the past 24 years. The Free Young Persons’ programs tailored to youth are designed to excite, engage and ignite students of all ages. The programs expose youth of all ages to the rich and varied repertoire of classical music and increase their appreciation for the arts. The mission of Music for Youth is to foster a love and knowledge of classical music and world music in young people through free children’s concerts and music programs in local schools, thus encouraging the study, performance and understanding of music by youngsters of all ages and backgrounds.

This musical journey has been generously sponsored by donors who understand the value of music appreciation in the life of a child. Organizers thank their sponsors who have made this incredible series of concerts possible for so many years.

The series finale will feature two brilliant pianists who will fire up the stage with two pianos and a program that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The Primakov/Lavrova duo is returning to Pequot for our concert series finale on March 10th

Two Juilliard-trained concert pianists, who began their studies in Moscow, Russia, founded the Lavrova/Primakov Duo in 2010. Natalia Lavrova and Vassily Primakov are both young stars of the last generation to descend from the Great Russian Conservatory tradition.

They have performed extensively in the US, most recently at the University of Vermont Lane Series in Burlington, Manchester Music Festival, Artist Series of Tallahassee, multi-concert tour of the state of Georgia and a month-long South African tour, and have garnered numerous critical accolades.

"Like the talented and imaginative chefs they are, they work wonders with ingredients given…dazzling display by two phenomenal pianists." - Fanfare.

Natalia Lavrova and Vassily Primakov are Yamaha Artists who “feel that our strength is in being two, very individual performers, long standing friends and collaborators and this keeps us constantly grounded in promoting projects we feel a responsibility toward. We enter every situation, concert and project with a level of pride, respect and devotion and we sincerely hope that this will translate to our future listeners.”  Natalia Lavrova & Vassily Primakov are Yamaha Artists.

A master class for advanced solo and duo pianists will follow the concert. Registration is required for participation; and interested students should email musicforyouthct@gmail.com for more information. There is a suggested donation of $35 for performing in the master class.

The concert in March is FREE for adults attending with children. Adults attending without children are asked to make a goodwill donation to help sustain future programs.  Doors will open at 1:45 pm.  Registration is not required but suggested by emailing musicforyouthct@gmail.
