SUSANNE ANDOVER KEANY
Susanne lives and works in Weston, Connecticut. She paints in series based on themes from nature. Her current work is inspired by the idea of Recycle and her garage crammed with bits and pieces saved on walks, odd items saved from the trash collector, packaging too complex to dispose. The endless possibilities of detritus empowered her. She says, “What is recycling if not transformation.”

She used two big discarded canvases and boxes of twigs and wire, paint, leather, plastic air bags. There was also the reconstruction and combining of some items to form a new item, to recycle. She says the process was very freeing, provided a chance to see things afresh and to change old ideas. The works that emerged, both paintings and sculpture, were often surprising.

Susanne has exhibited widely in Connecticut, New York and Florida. She is a graduate of Barnard College and the School of Visual Arts at Purchase. She studied at the NY Studio school and with the late Robert Reed of Yale. Her work is in both private and corporate collections.

MOLLIE KELLER
Mollie is a long time Trumbull resident. A graduate of Mount Holyoke and NYU, she became a full time artist after retiring from a full time job.

Mollie’s usual focus is on two dimensional experiences of color and form. She has always used water media to express herself. With this show, however, she has tiptoed into a third dimension and found herself enchanted with the possibilities of shadow boxes. The work here is a recycling of old paintings and materials, but it also explores what happens when two dimensions become three.
