Fairfield to Sponsor Workshop for Small Business Owners, May 1

Fairfield, CT – The Town of Fairfield’s Department of Community & Economic Development, in partnership with the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, will offer a free workshop on Tuesday, May 1st, aimed at helping small business owners get the most out of their marketing dollars and increase their business opportunities.  The workshop, which coincides with National Small Business Week, will be led by Valeria Bisceglia, Business Advisor at the Connecticut Small Business Development Center.

Business owner attendees can expect to learn more about how to articulate a distinctive value proposition to their target markets and how to craft the right messaging in order to increase the effectiveness of their marketing efforts.  In this highly interactive workshop, participants will also discuss customer segments, identifying and cultivating the ideal customer and messaging that speaks to different customer types.

The workshop will be held at the Fairfield Regional Fire Training School, located at 205 Richard White Way in Fairfield.  The program will begin at 8:00 a.m., and is expected to last about an hour with time allotted for questions. Sign-in and informal networking will commence a half-hour before at 7:30 a.m.  Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of First County Bank.

“Small business owners face a myriad of challenges to their ability to grow their business, and having a thorough understanding of their customers is obviously critical to their success, stated Director of Economic Development Mark Barnhart.  “We are delighted to be co-sponsoring this workshop on a topic of much import to our small business community,” he added.

The program is free of charge, but advanced registration is encouraged as space is limited.  To register, please go to https://fairfieldgrowyourbiz.eventbrite.com.  For further information, contact Mark Barnhart, Director of Community & Economic Development, at (203) 256-3120 or mbarnhart@fairfieldct.org or Beverly Balaz at the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce at (203) 255-1011 or beverly@fairfieldctchamber.com.

Small businesses remain vital to our economic well-being.  According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses create two out of every three new jobs in the country each year, and more than half of Americans either own or work for small businesses.  National Small Business Week has been celebrated each year since 1963 as a way to recognize the critical contributions of entrepreneurs and small business owners to the U.S. economy.

The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC) offers expert assistance at no cost to entrepreneurs and small business owners.  CTSBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, and the University of Connecticut.
