Job Interview Coaching Program at Fairfield Library, May 10

Fairfield, Conn. -  Many times candidates feel like they don't have anything to say in a job interview, or are overwhelmed by looking at a shopping list of questions they might be asked. It can be difficult to understand how experiences that seem insignificant to you can be crucial to an employer's hiring decision. Career coach Melanie Szlucha developed the TODAY acronym to help candidates focus their preparation on specific examples from their career and volunteer work that align with the needs of the employer. Find out about TODAY as well as the finer points of an interview such as establishing rapport, avoiding the Walk of Silence from the reception desk to the interview, negotiating the offer, and preparing for the five questions that will always be asked. Head to Fairfield's Main Library on Thursday, May 10 at 7:00pm, to the Memorial Room, 1080 Old Post Road. Registration is requested.

Melanie Szlucha is a career coach at Red, Inc. As a hiring manager, Melanie was always wondering if she was really hiring the best person for the job by selecting the candidate with the best resume and job interview skills. Her goal in starting her business was to transform resumes and teach better job interview preparation so that companies are able to quickly understand a candidate’s value and to help great candidates get the jobs they deserve.

This presentation is part of the Library’s award-winning Jobs series, now in its seventh year. Talks are supplemented by a LinkedIn networking group, one-on-one career counseling sessions, a weekly Job Search Boot Camp, and an updated collection of job-hunting books. Since January of 2012, 291 people who have attended Jobs series programs have reported they have found employment.
