Fairfield, CT: Many of CT’s best runners are competing in next weekend’s Faxon Law Fairfield Road Races. The race features a $5,000 purse for the top finishers in the half marathon and 5K races.
Connecticut’s top male distance runners competing in the Faxon Law Fairfield Road Races include Fairfield’s Matt Kane, Manchester’s John Busque, Chris Zablocki of Essex and North Haven’s Sam Montclair. Kane and Montclair are the favorites in the ½ marathon. Montclair recently ran a 1:07 in the Richmond Half Marathon and Kane ran a 1:08 in Philadelphia. Busque and Zablocki are favorites in the 5K. Busque recently won the 2018 Cheshire 5K with a time of 14:43. Zablocki, an Olympics Trials Marathon qualifier, won the Hartford Marathon in 2017.
The women’s field is led by Fairfield’s Meg Ryan, who is the 2017 Faxon Law Fairfield Half Marathon runner-up. With a 1:17 recent half marathon, Torrington’s Anna Shields should challenge Ryan. Shields is the also running the 5K race and should win that race.
The races take place at Jennings Beach in Fairfield. Both days offer beach parties following the races! All runners are invited to enjoy live music, vendors, loaves of bread, pizza, fruit, refreshments & awards ceremony. Participants are encouraged to register early!
