Cromwell, CT - Connecticut Better Business Bureau's Military Line is sponsoring its fifth annual Military Appreciation Night at the CT Tigers game on Friday August 17th at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT. The first 1,000 visitors through the gate who attend the game will receive a commemorative baseball card set featuring the 2018 CT "Military All-Stars" and their stories.
There will be a dedication ceremony honoring the seven military heroes before the game. Each one will be introduced to the baseball fans and receive an award on the field presented by CT BBB's Military Line in partnership with the CT Tigers.
The service men being honored are Air Force Army Sargeant, Major Dominick S. Cortese of Norwich, CT; U.S. Coast Guard E6 Mario Cima of Portland, OR; U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Ray Lilley of Hartford, CT; U.S. Coast Guard Senior Cheif David McHugh, Jr. of Hartford, CT; U.S. Navy BM2/E-5 Christopher L. Briles of Houston, TX; U.S. Navy MASA/E-2 Alejandro L. Navarro of Vero Beach, FL; and U.S. Navy CSS1(SS) Aaron B. Fierros of Boston, MA.
Not only will the CT BBB's Military Line be recognizing local military heroes, but they will also be raising money for the BBB Military Line Student Ethics Scholarship Award. These scholarships are given to students of military families who personify high ethics demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity and academic history who are entering their freshman or sophomore year to an accredited school.
During the game, players will be wearing special military themed jerseys that fans have the chance to take home. The jerseys will be up for auction with the proceeds going towards BBB Military Line Student Ethics Scholarship fund.
Tickets for the game are available on the CT Tigers website. All current or former military can purchase a reserved ticket and food voucher redeemable for a hot dog, bag of chips, and bottled non-alcoholic beverage for just $7 with military ID at the Dodd Stadium box office. There will also be a spectacular Pyrotecnico fireworks display after the game!
