Fairfield Museum's Halloween on the Green Returns Oct. 28

FAIRFIELD, CT - The date is set for Fairfield’s most spirited annual family event, Halloween on the Green! Families are invited to come in costume to the Museum Commons behind the Fairfield Museum & History Center on Sunday, October 28 from noon to 4pm for a day of free, fantastic fun!

This family event, presented by the Fairfield Museum and the Town of Fairfield, will feature trick-or-treating, giveaways, performances, parades, food trucks, bounce houses, games, crafts, activities and more! Elaborate Halloween displays will be set up in the historic buildings on the Museum Commons (Kids’ Cottage, Sun Tavern and Old Academy Schoolhouse) and the entire area will be transformed into an enchanting Halloween village.

This marks the third year of the new and improved Fairfield Halloween event (formerly known as Trick or Treat on Safety Street.) “The response over the past two years has been really exciting,” said Christine Jewell, Fairfield Museum’s director of education and community programs. “It is a true community effort, and thousands of people have enjoyed a day full of activities in costume.”

Many local businesses are again sponsoring and non-profit groups are assisting with the event. “All of us at the Fairfield Museum are excited to partner with the Town of Fairfield and dozens of community organizations to continue this much-loved Fairfield tradition,” said Shana Wiswell, director of development at the Fairfield Museum. “We are tremendously grateful for the support of many corporate partners as well that bring the Museum Commons to life with trick-or-treating, games, giveaways and more. This year, we are delighted to have the support of Fairfield Rotary Club, Giglio Landscaping Services, Junkluggers, Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, Knights of Columbus 2616 & Father Coleman Foundation of Fairfield, Docs Urgent Care, Dojo Fairfield, Fairfield Parks & Recreation, Kids First Pediatric Dentistry, Magic Beans, Rolling Moo, TownVibe/Fairfield Magazine, WEBE 108 and Willows Pediatrics.”

Some highlights of the day will include a costume parade at 1pm led by Superintendent of Fairfield Schools Toni Jones and presented by the Chamber of Commerce (meet in front of Old Town Hall), performances by local groups, trick-or-treating, a bounce house, hay rides, pumpkin carving in front of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and food trucks. This year’s food trucks are Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes, The Local Meatball, Little Kernels Kettle Corn, Reno’s Pizza Truck and Super Duper Weenie.

Community participants include Connecticut Audubon Society, Daughters of the American Revolution/Eunice Dennie Burr Chapter, Fairfield Center Stage, Fairfield Department of Public Works, Fairfield Public Library, Fairfield Theatre Company, Fairfield University Bookstore, Great Beginnings Montessori School, Junior League, Junior Women’s Club, Kiwanis Club of Fairfield, League of Women Voters Fairfield Chapter, National Charity League, Pequot Library, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Students and Athletes Serving Others.
