The D.A.R. To Host a Reception for Veterans, Nov. 12

Fairfield, CT - The Eunice Dennie Burr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a reception for veterans Monday, November 12 after the American Legion Post 74, George A. Smith holding ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on the Town Green at 11:00 AM. The reception will be held at the Old Fairfield Academy, 635 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824. The building abuts the Town Green.

"It has been a long-standing tradition of the Eunice Dennie Burr Chapter to honor and pay tribute to veterans with a reception following the ceremony on the Town Green. It is but a small token of our appreciation to show our gratitude for all that veterans have sacrificed to ensure the liberty we all enjoy today,” says Sue Szudora, DAR Regent. The commemoration of the signing of the World War I armistice on November 11 at 11:00 AM were originated in 1918 as Armistice Day. It was first proclaimed by Congress in 1926. This commemoration was changed in 1956, to Veteran’s Day, to honor all veterans who have served the nation.
