Street Artist to Talk at Fairfield Museum, March 14

Fairfield, CT - How does a street artist turn a blank wall into a work of art? What is the artist thinking and is there a plan? Learn about this exciting art form on Thursday, March 14 at the Fairfield Museum & History Center’s Museum After Dark Artist Talk with John Paul O’Grodnick. The event opens with a reception at 6pm, and the program begins at 6:30pm. Guests will hear from the vibrant street muralist as well as the Fairfield Museum’s Curator of Exhibitions, Laurie Lamarre. This Museum After Dark event also includes a special tour of the brand-new Make Your Mark exhibition.

O’Grodnick, also known as JPO, is a native of Bridgeport. His work has been shown in galleries across the country, and his murals are painted on famous walls in New York City. He has collaborated with brands such as Gap, MTV, the NBA, the Grammys, Lululemon and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Make Your Mark explores both the abstract and physical relationships between “making your mark” and mark-making. It asks how artists, artisans, leaders, and others leave their creative marks on their communities and features innovative local artists as well as items from the Museum’s collections. A fascinating time-lapse video of JPO creating his mural on-site is also part of the exhibition.

The event is free for Museum members and $5 for non-members. The Museum is located at 370 Beach Road; (203) 259-1598; Fairfieldhistory.org.
