Project Runway: Senior Edition Showcases Fairfield Ludlowe’s Class of 2019

Fairfield, CT - On March 24, nearly 80 Fairfield Ludlowe seniors and staff will head down the catwalk for the high school’s annual fundraiser. In addition to sporting the latest fashions from generous local retailers, the event is a chance to celebrate the graduating Class of 2019.

Headmaster and returning Master of Ceremonies Greg Hatzis will read a short bio about the student models as they hit the catwalk. “Project Runway is always a great memory for our seniors,” he says. “The audience gets to learn a lot about the student models, including dreams, aspirations, favorite Chinese food take-out items, embarrassing nicknames, and of course, all their great accomplishments as Falcons.”

The event also highlights students working beyond the runway. Guests will enjoy live entertainment from Close Harmony, one of the school’s award-winning a cappella groups, and the FLHS Jazz Combo. During intermission, gourmet appetizers and desserts, prepared by FLHS culinary students, will be served (supplies generously donated by The Pantry). In addition, students participate by designing the event program and will serve as official photographers and videographers throughout the afternoon.

Without a doubt, this event brings the Ludlowe community together while raising money for the PTA, including senior and Falcon scholarships, senior internships and senior prom parties. Sports teams, school clubs and parents add to the event’s bottom line by donating tantalizing raffle baskets filled with everything from college dorm essentials to gift cards for local stores and restaurants. Last year, Project Runway brought in a staggering $4000 and this year’s committee hopes to surpass that number.

While the students, staff, and parents at Fairfield Ludlowe High School band together for this important fundraiser, the event would not be possible without the generous support of local retailers. This year, the following stores will outfit the models: Apricot Lane, Anthropologie, BHLDN, Camillo Tuxedos, Capri, Ciao Bella, Gap, Giuliana Boutique, Jennifer Butler, Jos A Bank, Millie Rae’s, Sailor-Sailor, South Moon Under, Splash of Pink, and Southern Tide. While sending samples of their latest collections down the runway provides the stores with great exposure right before prom season, their participation is a labor of love. Salespeople spend countless hours coordinating ensembles that complement the models and represent the latest styles. “Our loyal retailers and local businesses have been incredibly supportive, so we encourage everyone to return the favor by patronizing these venues this spring!” says event co-chair, Jen Hinkle.

Together with co-chairs Laura Silence and Valerie Johnson, Jen recognizes the many students, staff members, and dedicated parents who participate in Project Runway. “We always have fun planning Project Runway,” she says. “This year, we have several volunteers returning for their fifth and sixth years, along with many new faces who will keep the event running in the future.”

Tickets are $20 adults; $10 students
