Fairfield Marks National Drive Electric Week with “Green Wheels Expo” on Sept. 14

Fairfield, CT - First Selectman Mike Tetreau and the Sustainable Fairfield Task Force (SFTF) are pleased to announce that in recognition of National Drive Electric Week in September a special display of the latest in electric vehicles (EVs) will be held at the “Green Wheels Expo” (formerly the EV Showcase) on Saturday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the small commuter parking lot at 140 Mill Plain Road (across from the Eunice Postol Recreation Center and the Sportsplex).

The event, which is being hosted by the SFTF, will include cars, bikes, motorcycles, boats and buses for the public to have a fun, informative look at the growing impact and appeal of “emissions-free” transportation. The free, fifth annual event will bring together local car dealers, electric car club members, and EV owners from Connecticut and throughout the Tri-state region to display the current state of the technology. The “Green Wheels Expo” will also will feature exhibits on the environmental benefits of carpooling and bike sharing, mass transportation, and biking, hiking and walking.

Local EV owners are invited to bring their vehicles to have displayed at the event. For information on how to register a vehicle, please visit the Fairfield event page on the National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) website. NDEW, which is held September 14-22, is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and to highlight the benefits of all-electric and hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more.

SFTF member Mary Hogue stated, “The Green Wheels Expo is all about showing Fairfield residents that a number of their friends, neighbors and other residents are already enjoying the many benefits of electrically powered transportation. The SFTF encourages EV owners to be part of this event.”
