Pequot Library Presents Art Exhibit by Joyce Grasso, Sept. 6-Oct. 6

Southport, CT - A new art exhibit presented by Pequot Library Sept. 6 - Oct. 6, themed "Coastal Expressions", features the abstract seascapes of Joyce Grasso, the Best in Show winner of Pequot Library’s 2018 Art Show Wet Paint: Art Fresh from the Studio. Grasso describes her acrylic on canvas paintings as creating a “feeling of place” with “bold colors, multiple laters and varied textures.”

This exhibition also highlights Grasso’s mixed media collages with hand-painted acrylic papers on cradleboard.

Enjoy a gallery talk led by Grasso during the opening reception on September 5, along with light hors d’oeuvres and wine.

About the Artist
Joyce Grasso was raised in Portland, Maine. Settling in Fairfield County, she taught art in the Stamford and Greenwich public schools for over 35 years. She has studied at the International Center for Photography, Silvermine School of Art, and the Greenwich Art Society.

Throughout her career she has received several awards for her street photography and paintings. Grasso has exhibited in several juried shows and most recently was awarded Best in Show in Pequot Library’s 21st Annual Art Show. Her photos and paintings are collected from Maine to California with five of her paintings hanging in the permanent collection at Stamford Hospital. In addition, her work is exhibited at The Portland Art Gallery (Maine), Southport Gallery, and the Drawing Room.

She has been featured in several publications, including "Maine Art and Design Magazine" and "Serendipity" as an emerging artist. Joyce is a member of the Loft Artists Association in Stamford, CT where she has her studio.
