Fairfield, CT - The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield, 2325 Burr Street, will lead a Shinrin-Yoku Sanctuary Walk on Saturday, September 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1 to 2 p.m. Cost per class: CAS Members $15, Non-members $20. Adult program.

Experience the restorative health benefits of nature during a gentle woodland walk based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, known as forest bathing. This hour-long walk for adults takes place Saturday, September 14, on the tranquil trails of The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary in Fairfield. Choose from two walk times offered: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or 1 to 2 p.m.

In Japanese, shinrin means forest, and yoku refers to bathing mind and body in green space. Harvard-trained health educator Dr. Roxanne Daleo will guide participants through the walk and her practice which she refers to as “forest breathing.” It is designed to help you decompress from everyday stress by taking in the forest atmosphere with all of your senses, and breathing deeply to experience the healing power of nature.

Connecticut Audubon’s Center at Fairfield is located at 2325 Burr Street, Fairfield, CT. The program fee is: CAS Members $15; Non-members $20. Class size is limited; pre-registration is required.
