Composting Class at CT Audubon Fairfield, Sept. 28

Fairfield, CT - The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Fairfield will offer a class on composting, Saturday, September 28, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 2325 Burr Street. Led by Mary Hogue, member of the Sustainable Fairfield Task Force, and Fairfield resident Dan Martens, you’ll find out how to recycle your food scraps into a rich compost for your garden and lawn. Learn how composting creates a natural fertilizer that improves soil aeration and drainage, controls weeds and reduces the need to water.

Class attendees will receive a free under-sink composting bin, sample composting bags and a 20% discount on a backyard bin purchased at the Solid Waste and Recycling Department.

The program cost is: CAS Members $7; non-members $10. Pre-registration required at:www.ctaudubon.org/2019/08/create-garden-friendly-compost/, or call 203-259-6305, ext. 109 for more information.
