Families Invited to Day for Kids at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, Sept. 20

Southport, CT - Wakeman Boys & Girls Club will hold its annual Day for Kids celebration Friday, September 20th at its Southport Clubhouse and Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse. The free event is open to families in the community, with Clubhouse tours also available.

The Southport Clubhouse celebration will be 4:00-5:30pm, featuring various lawn games, arts and crafts, laser tag, 40 yard dash competition, face painting, tattooing, minute to win it challenges, carnival games and more. Hotdogs, hamburgers, drinks and snacks are available for purchase. Day for Kids in Southport is sponsored by Essex Financial – The Southport Group of Kevin Nolan & Sean Flynn and People’s United Bank with support from Community Partner Garelick & Herb.

The Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse celebration will be 3:30-5:30pm, featuring carnival games, face painting, minute to win it, music, sports, arts and crafts, balloon animals, moon bounce and free food. Day for Kids at Smilow-Burroughs is sponsored by Pullman & Comley LLC and Safety Marking Inc.

Wakeman Boys & Girls Club joins thousands of other Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide in celebration of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s annual Day for Kids. The Clubs acknowledges that all families experience the pressures of contemporary life, regardless of economic status, ethnicity, cultural background or location. These pressures directly affect the amount of meaningful time they are able to devote to their children. Many young people face serious issues in childhood that can impact their success as adults. Day for Kids serves as a national celebration of the life-changing work happening at Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation, and a reminder that one day can change a child’s future.
